Broadway wins the day!

The Scottish Local Retailer Awards reached their glittering climax recently as Edinburgh Premier retailers Dennis & Linda Williams scooped the top prize on the evening.

A record number of entries were received for this year - more than double the amount for 2009 - and the judges were thrilled with the overall standard.

Beers, Wines & Spirits Retailer of the Year: Javid Ghafur, Londis Brediland Road, Paisley. Bread Retailer of the Year: Lynn Boyd, Spar Hillfoot, Ayr. Confectionery Retailer of the Year: Dennis & Linda Williams, Broadway Convenience Store, Edinburgh. Crisps & Snacks Retailer of the Year: John Cuthbertson, Premier at the Union, Dundee.

Food to Go Retailer of the Year: Stephen Carr, Keystore Roman Road, Bonnybridge. Forecourt Retailer of the Year: Sebastian Nonis, Forfar Road Service Station, Dundee. Milk Retailer of the Year: Jack Marwaha, Churchills, Glasgow.

Newstrade Retailer of the Year: Omar Nasir, Spar Leven Street, Motherwell. Soft Drinks Retailer of the Year: Gerry Haughey, Spar Thornliebank. Specialist Off Licence of the Year: Alan Vose, 1. Peckhams & Rye, Glasgow. Community Involvement Retailer of the Year: Dennis & Linda Williams, Broadway Convenience Store, Edinburgh. Responsible Retailer of the Year: Christine & Douglas Dryden, Nisa Local Stonehaven. A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Golden Casket's Douglas Rae.
